Electric Community Interactive Workshop
Saturday, July 19, 2014, 10:00 AM to Noon
Sulzer Regional Library, 4455 N. Lincoln Avenue, Chicago, IL 60625
Electricity production is the #1 source of greenhouse gas emissions contributing to climate change. But, for ordinary residents, determining what to do can be confusing. Install solar panels? Buy "green" electricity? Lobby government? Forgo air conditioning?
Join other Chicago residents for a hands-on, interactive workshop that will demystify the electrical system and clarify how you can help green it. Using games, model-building, and small group discussions, you'll learn where electricity goes in your home, the sources of Chicago's electricity, and 10 things you can do to help "green the grid". This is an educational workshop that gives you the tools you need to come to your own conclusions and then act. It does not promote any specific program, product, or approach.
Come. Learn. Have fun. Decide for yourself. Act.
This is a free workshop open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. A Kill-a-Watt meter ($40 value) will be given away in a drawing. Click here to download an event flyer.

Informal Street Outreach
June and July, 2014
Lincoln Square, Chicago, IL
A short, interactive activity from the workshop was shared with residents at local farmer's markets and community centers in late June and early July 2014. This provided an opportunity to talk with residents about electricity, invite them to the July 19 workshop, and inform them of this website and other local electricity-related resources.
